A Movie I Watched

July 3rd, 2008

I haven’t written here in a while, and couldn’t sleep (probably because I took a 2 hour nap earlier). Anyway, I should probably write here more, otherwise, it’s somewhat pointless to have your own site don’t you think? Yeah, me too.

I watched a movie tonight, “Definitely, Maybe”. I know, it’s a chick flick, but I can do that every once in a while. I was pleasantly surprised by the movie. I had seen the trailer, and though it would be your run-of-the-mill love story, which it kinda was, but I could actually relate. The main focus of the movie (without giving any spoilers), is a single dad, telling his daughter, the story of how he met her mother. Unlike “How I Met Your Mother”, which is one of my favorite TV shows, it focuses on the sappy stuff, not the situational comedy stuff. Besides, who wants to watch a love story every Monday night for 30 minutes during prime time? That’s why they make movies I guess.

Back to the whole me relating to the movie thing. Growing up, my parents were divorced, like the girl in the movie who’s parents are also going through a divorce. Ryan Reynold’s character plays a typical male, who goes through dating in college and post-grad, which many of us can relate to. It tells of why you may think that one person is “the one”, and doesn’t work out, for whatever reasons. The trials and tribulations of dating, and how things turn out after time. There’s a symbolism in a book that has significant meaning which I too, have an item much like the book in the movie. And without giving too much away, there’s something that the dad tells his daughter, that I have also been told by my dad. All of which, make you think about things.

So, even though this was a “chick flick”, it was a movie that accomplished it’s purpose, telling a story that hopefully someone out there can relate to. I know I did.

If you’re interested in any of the movies I watch, check out my movies page, I try to update it when I watch new stuff, but as you can tell, I can fall behind at times. Anyway, thanks for reading…
